The Warriors of the 1970’s

Welcome Back Warriors!

The decade of the 1970's in Hampton, VA., seems like yesterday in one respect yet so long ago and far away at the same time.  We were framed by Woodstock at one end of the decade and by a Disco Inferno by the beginning of the 1980's.

With the hangover left from the 60's, those tumultuous years of the 1970's would forever change the world.

Deeply effecting many in Hampton, Viet Nam would immeasurably and lastingly change our collective conciousness. From "Four dead in Ohio" to M*A*S*H* to Watergate and time's only presidential resignation to the death of Elvis and to the Sony Walkman, we witnessed a broad history unfold in a short decade .

Life seems to have gotten a bit faster and certainly more complex since then....for then was a time when it seemed that our worries and cares ebbed to and fro like the rhythm of our beaches.

F
or most of us, that sprawling, one-story building on
Woodland Road housed many of our dreams, our laughter, troubles and even a bit of our innocence.

Then…life happened.

While many of us have gone our separate ways, pursued our dreams and raised families – one thing we do hold in common are the years we spent under that roof – joined in community (sometimes in the dark) – moving toward graduation day at hormone-induced, warp speed.

Today, that building on Woodland Rd. retains, yet still.....a little piece of all of us.

Let's take a look......
